Enjoying Your Theater Experience

When I started my own movie blog, I realized that I was going to have to see more movies than ever before. Although it was really fun to check out new flicks and familiarize myself with some of the celebrities, one thing I didn't expect to learn was how different some theaters are. However, I quickly realized that not every movie theater was created equally. Some theaters were comfortable and nice, while others were less than pristine. Fortunately, I quickly learned how to tell a good establishment from one that needed a little work. Check out this blog for tips that might help you to enjoy your theater experience.

Three Types Of Films That Make It Okay To Love Animation As An Adult

by Nathaniƫl Van Ittersum

Animation is loved by people all over the world, and there's no reason you should feel embarrassed if you still enjoy cartoons as an adult. If you worry about appearing childish for watching animated movies, here are three kinds of animated films you can enjoy that are anything but for kids.

Anime

Anime refers to a subset of animation that's produced solely in Japan. Anime has become extremely popular in recent years, but it's not just for kids. While not every anime is intended for adult or mature audiences, many anime films are. "Your Name" was recently released in the U.S. in theaters, and is a thought-provoking and beautiful anime. The latest off-shoot of the "Fate" series, "Fate/Stay Night: Heaven's Feel" will also premiere soon, which should be absolutely action-packed, in keeping with the TV anime series of the same name.

Gritty 3D Animation

When most movie-goers think of 3D animated films, their minds probably go to films by studios like Pixar and Dreamworks. While those studios are capable of producing beautiful and hilarious films, many would also point out that most of them are family-friendly, or even intended purely for children. However, that's not the only way that 3D animation is used in films these days.

A new CG film, "Resident Evil: Vendetta" is on the way based off of the video games of the same name, rather than the live action film series. The film should be full of action, gore, and dangerous dilemmas, which make it completely inappropriate for kids and perfect for adults.

Comic Book Adaptations

Lastly, don't neglect comic book adaptations in the animated form. Most young adults and adults enjoy comic book adaptations on the big screen, but live action films aren't where the fun stops. DC Comics has received quite a bit of praise for its adaptations of its comic book properties into animated films. While some could argue that these are appropriate for youth, people are also likely to understand your appreciation for comic book heroes if they've ever watched one of the mega-blockbuster live action films based off comic books themselves.

Animation is an art form that deserves praise for the time and effort that goes into it to tell a story. If you still love animation or cartoons as an adult, there's no better time to be a fan of animated works with titles and genres like these to enjoy on the big screen. It never hurts to check out a list of upcoming animated movies, either.
